Salix gracilistyla ‘Mt. Aso’

Categories: ,

An otherwise unremarkable shrub,  this willow is grown very much for it’s spectacular catkins or ‘pussies’. In early spring these fill the younger branches with pink to almost magenta coloured felted growths; they’re very impressive as a cut flower. To produce the maximum number of catkins, cut it hard back each spring when flowering has finished.
